If you are looking for sushi in Carrollton, Kkanbu Sushi is a place that often stands out for its generous portions and Korean-style sashimi experience.
I had a very strong first impression from my previous visit, so I came back with fairly high expectations this time.
This was my second visit, and I wanted to see if the experience would be just as consistent.
Second Visit Expectations
Because my first visit was genuinely satisfying, I expected a similar level of quality this time.
Kkanbu Sushi is known not just for the main dishes, but also for the large amount of side dishes, often referred to as “skkidashe.”
That part alone makes it different from many other sushi spots in the area.
Side Dishes: Still Impressive, but Different
Just like my first visit, the side dishes came out in generous portions.
There was a wide variety, and it immediately made the table feel full.
One thing I noticed this time is that the selection of side dishes was different from my previous visit.
It seems like they rotate the items, which gives it a bit of a “random box” feeling.
While I appreciate the variety, I personally preferred the selection from my first visit.
Still, the overall quantity and presentation were impressive.
It’s definitely one of the defining features of this place.
Main Dish: Flounder Sashimi
For the main dish, I ordered flounder sashimi again.
I wanted to keep it consistent so I could compare it directly with my first experience.
This time, however, the result felt slightly disappointing.
The texture didn’t have the same firm, chewy quality that I remembered.
It wasn’t bad, but it didn’t stand out in the same way as before.
Because of that, the overall impression of the meal felt slightly weaker compared to my first visit.
The Balance Between Side Dishes and Main Dish
This visit made me think about one interesting aspect of Kkanbu Sushi.
The generous amount of side dishes can actually be a double-edged sword.
On one hand, it creates a full and satisfying dining experience.
On the other hand, it can take attention away from the main dish.
With so many items on the table, it becomes harder to fully focus on the quality of the sashimi itself.
This was something I didn’t really notice during my first visit, but it became more apparent this time.
Overall Experience at Kkanbu Sushi
Despite the slight disappointment with the main dish, I wouldn’t say this was a bad visit.
The overall experience was still enjoyable.
It’s possible that my expectations were simply higher because of how good the first visit was.
That difference in expectation likely played a role in how I perceived this visit.
Kkanbu Sushi still offers a unique experience compared to typical sushi restaurants in Carrollton.
The combination of Korean-style sashimi and a large selection of side dishes is not something you see everywhere.
My Final Verdict on Kkanbu Sushi Carrollton
This second visit gave me a more balanced view of Kkanbu Sushi.
While the first visit felt strong across the board, this one showed that the experience can vary depending on the day and the dishes.
Even so, I still think this place is worth visiting again.
There is enough value in the overall experience to justify another visit in the future.
If you are looking for a sushi spot in Carrollton with a different style and generous portions, this is still a place to consider.
