Hanshin Pocha Carrollton Review: First Visit

If you are looking for a late-night Korean bar in Carrollton, Hanshin Pocha is one of the spots that you will likely come across.

I recently visited Hanshin Pocha in Carrollton for the first time, but instead of going there for drinks, I went mainly to try the food.

Since this place is known more as a drinking spot, I was curious to see how the food would be on its own.

First Impressions and Atmosphere

I visited on a Friday evening, so the restaurant was already busy when I arrived.

The atmosphere felt like a typical Korean pocha, lively, slightly loud, and full of energy.

It had that casual late-night vibe where people come to relax, drink, and hang out with friends.

The layout was interesting as well.

There are several private room-style tables, along with an open central area filled with regular seating.

They also have rooms with karaoke setups, which makes it a good option for group gatherings.

For this visit, I sat in one of the room-style tables, which felt more comfortable and slightly quieter compared to the main area.

Service and Complimentary Dish

One thing that stood out was the complimentary dish option.

You can choose between kimchi pancake or fried eggs as a service item.

I chose the kimchi pancake.

It was a nice addition to start the meal.

It wasn’t anything particularly memorable, but it added to the overall experience.

Food: Jeyuk Bokkeum and Grilled Dried Pollock

For food, I ordered jeyuk bokkeum and grilled dried pollock.

The jeyuk bokkeum felt more like a dish designed for drinking rather than a main meal.

It was noticeably on the salty side.

As a side dish to go with alcohol, it makes sense.

However, if you are expecting a well-balanced jeyuk bokkeum as a main dish, it might feel a bit underwhelming.

On its own, it wasn’t particularly memorable.

The grilled dried pollock was decent.

This is the type of dish where the sauce plays a big role in the overall flavor.

It wasn’t bad, but it didn’t really stand out either.

Overall, the food felt average and more suited for a drinking environment rather than a food-focused visit.

Overall Experience

As a place to drink and spend time with friends, Hanshin Pocha Carrollton works well.

The lively atmosphere, room options, and late-night availability make it convenient.

However, if your main focus is the food itself, it might not fully meet expectations.

This feels more like a place you visit for the overall vibe rather than for specific dishes.

Important Note

One thing to be aware of is that this is not the Hanshin Pocha associated with Baek Jong Won.

It only shares the same name, which could be confusing for some people.

Final Thoughts on Hanshin Pocha Carrollton

Overall, Hanshin Pocha in Carrollton is a reasonable option for a late-night outing.

If you are looking for a place to drink, talk, and enjoy a casual atmosphere, it works well.

But if you are going mainly for food, there are likely better choices nearby.

Personally, I chose this place because it stays open late, which is not very common in Carrollton.

Whether I would come back again depends on the situation, but it’s a decent option when you need a late-night spot.
