Hanabi Ramen Carrollton Review: First Visit

For my Hanabi Ramen Carrollton first visit review, I stopped by this Japanese ramen restaurant on Old Denton Road after passing it several times and wondering whether it was worth trying.

The restaurant often looked busy whenever I drove through the area. Since Carrollton already has plenty of Japanese and Korean dining options, I was curious whether Hanabi Ramen would offer something memorable.

When I eat ramen, three things matter most to me: the flavor of the broth, the texture of the noodles, and how well the toppings complement the bowl.

During this first visit, the broth impressed me the most. It was rich and savory without tasting excessively salty, while the chewy noodles and tender chashu helped make the meal satisfying.

I also appreciated the easy parking, comfortable dining room, and friendly service. Although I have not tried enough of the menu to recommend every ramen style, the bowl I ate gave me a good reason to consider returning.

First Impression of Hanabi Ramen Carrollton

Hanabi Ramen is located in a shopping center along Old Denton Road, an area of Carrollton that I visit frequently for restaurants.

One practical advantage I noticed immediately was the parking. There were plenty of available spaces during my visit, so I could park without spending extra time searching for a spot.

That may seem like a small detail, but convenient parking makes a restaurant more appealing to me when I simply want to stop for lunch or dinner.

The exterior was fairly simple, but I liked the atmosphere once I stepped inside. Wooden tables, warm lighting, and Japanese-inspired decorations made the space feel casual and welcoming.

I noticed different types of customers, including families, couples, and people eating alone. The restaurant did not feel formal, which suited the kind of meal I wanted.

My initial impression was that Hanabi Ramen could be a convenient place for an ordinary ramen craving rather than somewhere I would visit only for a special occasion.

Of course, the atmosphere alone would not be enough to make me return. I was more interested in whether the ramen itself would live up to my expectations.

What I Ordered at Hanabi Ramen Carrollton

Before ordering, I looked through the menu and noticed several ramen styles, including Tonkotsu, Miso, Shoyu, and Tan Tan Men.

I appreciated having those choices because ramen can taste completely different depending on the broth and seasoning.

For this first visit, I focused mainly on my ramen rather than trying to evaluate the entire menu. I wanted to see whether the broth, noodles, and toppings would come together in a satisfying way.

When the ramen arrived, the orange-colored broth caught my attention. The bowl looked rich, and the noodles, egg, and other toppings made it look like a complete meal.

The appearance raised my expectations, but what mattered most was how the ramen tasted once I started eating.

Ramen Broth: Rich Without Being Too Salty

The broth was easily my favorite part of the ramen at Hanabi Ramen Carrollton.

From the first few spoonfuls, I noticed a deep, savory flavor and satisfying richness. The broth had enough character to make me want to keep tasting it even before concentrating on the noodles.

What impressed me most was the balance of the seasoning.

I have had ramen where the broth tastes excellent at first but becomes tiring because of the saltiness. That was not my experience here.

Although the broth was rich and flavorful, it did not taste excessively salty to me. I could continue enjoying it without feeling overwhelmed by the seasoning.

I even found myself taking several additional spoonfuls because I liked the flavor so much.

For my personal taste, a good ramen broth needs enough depth to remain interesting without relying entirely on salt. The broth at Hanabi achieved that balance during my visit.

It was the strongest reason I left with a positive impression of the restaurant, and it would be the main reason I wanted to try another ramen style here.

Ramen Noodles: A Satisfying Chewy Texture

The noodles were another part of the meal I enjoyed.

They had a pleasant chewiness without feeling excessively firm or undercooked. At the same time, they were not so soft that they lost their texture in the broth.

This is important to me because even a flavorful broth can be disappointing when the noodles become too soft.

During my visit, the noodles retained enough bite to make each mouthful satisfying.

I particularly enjoyed how the noodle texture complemented the savory broth. The broth provided most of the flavor, while the noodles gave the ramen the chewiness I was looking for.

I would not say the noodles were more memorable than the broth, but they were a good match. Neither element distracted from the other.

For me, that balance was a major part of what made the bowl enjoyable.

Chashu Pork, Soft Boiled Egg and Other Toppings

The ramen also included chashu pork, a soft boiled egg, green onions, and bamboo shoots.

I enjoyed the chashu because the pork was tender and had a satisfying balance of lean meat and fat.

That combination added richness to the bowl without making the meat feel excessively heavy.

The soft boiled egg contributed a creamy texture that worked naturally with the broth.

I also appreciated having green onions and bamboo shoots because they added some variety to the bowl. Different textures helped keep the ramen interesting as I continued eating.

None of the toppings impressed me as much as the broth, but I did not find that disappointing.

I prefer toppings that complement the overall ramen rather than overpower everything else, and that was generally how this bowl felt to me.

Between the tender chashu, creamy egg, chewy noodles, and savory broth, the individual elements worked together well.

Price and Portion Size at Hanabi Ramen Carrollton

When I visited Hanabi Ramen, I noticed that many of the ramen options on the menu were priced around the mid teens.

That price range felt familiar compared with other ramen restaurants I had visited around the Dallas area.

I would not call the menu unusually inexpensive, but the price did not surprise me based on my previous ramen experiences.

As for the portion size, I found my bowl satisfying.

There was a good combination of broth, noodles, pork, egg, and vegetables, so the ramen felt like a complete meal rather than something I needed to supplement with additional food.

I would not describe the bowl as unusually large, but the amount was enough for me to feel satisfied.

More importantly, I enjoyed the quality of the broth and noodles. A larger portion would not have mattered as much if the ramen itself had been disappointing.

Based on what I paid attention to during this visit, I felt the ramen offered reasonable value for my tastes.

The menu photo above shows the options available when I visited. Prices and selections may have changed since then, so I would check the current menu before ordering.

Service and Atmosphere at Hanabi Ramen

Beyond the food, I had a comfortable dining experience at Hanabi Ramen.

The restaurant had a steady flow of customers, but I did not find the dining room overwhelmingly hectic.

The wooden tables, warm lighting, and casual decorations made the space pleasant for an everyday meal.

I also appreciated the service. The staff were friendly, and the food arrived fairly quickly during my visit.

Even with other customers coming in, I did not feel that the experience was rushed.

That gave me time to enjoy the ramen, especially the broth, without feeling pressured to finish quickly.

The convenient parking was another positive. Since I frequently visit restaurants around Old Denton Road, having a location where parking was easy during my visit made Hanabi more appealing.

For me, these details made the experience feel straightforward and comfortable, which is what I usually want from a casual ramen restaurant.

Overall Experience at Hanabi Ramen Carrollton

Looking back on my first visit, the ramen itself was the strongest part of the experience.

I particularly enjoyed the broth because it delivered the rich, savory flavor I wanted without becoming too salty.

The noodles were pleasantly chewy, and the chashu pork and soft boiled egg helped make the bowl feel satisfying.

I also liked the comfortable atmosphere and friendly service. Parking was easy during my visit, which made the restaurant convenient to stop by.

One limitation of this review is that I have not compared enough ramen styles at Hanabi to decide which bowl is the best on the menu.

Although I liked what I tried, I would need another visit before recommending a particular ramen variety over the others.

That is also what makes me interested in returning. I would like to see whether another broth style can offer the same satisfying combination of flavor and texture.

My Final Verdict on Hanabi Ramen Carrollton

My first visit to Hanabi Ramen Carrollton was a positive experience, especially because of the broth and noodles.

Best part of the meal: The broth. It was rich, savory, and flavorful without tasting excessively salty to me.

Noodle texture: Pleasantly chewy, with enough firmness to complement the broth without becoming too hard or too soft.

Toppings: I enjoyed the tender chashu pork and creamy soft boiled egg, while the green onions and bamboo shoots added variety.

Atmosphere and service: Casual, comfortable, and welcoming. The staff were friendly, the food arrived fairly quickly, and I did not feel rushed.

Convenience: Parking was easy during my visit, which made the restaurant a practical choice when I wanted ramen in Carrollton.

What I would try next: Spicy Miso Ramen or Tan Tan Men. I am curious to see how those flavors compare with the bowl I enjoyed during this visit.

Would I return? Yes. The broth alone gave me a good reason to consider another visit.

If you are looking for ramen around Old Denton Road in Carrollton, I think Hanabi Ramen is worth considering based on my experience. I would especially recommend giving it a try if you enjoy rich but balanced broth, chewy noodles, and a casual dining environment.
