Chinchikurin Carrollton Review: First Visit

I recently visited Chinchikurin in Carrollton for the first time, and it was honestly a very different experience compared to most Japanese restaurants I’ve been to.

Most places focus on sushi or ramen, but this spot is known for okonomiyaki, which already makes it stand out in Carrollton.

That said, one of the dishes I tried ended up being even more memorable than the okonomiyaki.

Chinchikurin Carrollton First Impression

When I first walked into Chinchikurin Carrollton, the teppan grill setup immediately stood out.

You can see the food being cooked right in front of you, which adds a different kind of energy to the dining experience.

The atmosphere felt lively but still comfortable enough to sit down and enjoy the meal.

What We Ordered at Chinchikurin

For this visit, I ordered okonomiyaki along with mentaiko pasta.

I didn’t expect the pasta to stand out as much as it did, but it ended up being the highlight of the meal.

Okonomiyaki Review

The okonomiyaki was good, but to be honest, it wasn’t really my personal favorite.

It had a lot of vegetables layered inside, which gave it a unique texture, but it leaned more toward a style that I’m not fully used to yet.

I can see why people enjoy it, but it just didn’t match my personal preference.

Mentaiko Pasta Review

The mentaiko pasta, on the other hand, was honestly amazing.

This was easily one of the best mentaiko pasta dishes I’ve had.

The sauce was rich and creamy with a strong umami flavor from the mentaiko, but it wasn’t overwhelming.

It had a smooth texture that coated the noodles perfectly, making every bite really satisfying.

Compared to other places, this one stood out immediately in terms of flavor and balance.

If I had to recommend just one item from Chinchikurin Carrollton, this would be it without hesitation.

Final Thoughts on Chinchikurin Carrollton

Overall, my first visit to Chinchikurin Carrollton was a unique experience.

While the okonomiyaki wasn’t exactly my style, the mentaiko pasta completely made up for it.

It was easily one of the most memorable dishes from the visit.

If you’re planning to visit, I would definitely recommend trying the mentaiko pasta.

I would come back again just for that dish alone.
