If you are looking for Korean comfort food in the Dallas area, Busan Gukbap is one of those places that often gets mentioned.
I had heard a lot about this spot from people around me, especially about how good their gukbap is, so I went in with fairly high expectations.
This was my first visit, and I decided to try a variety of dishes to get a better sense of what the restaurant offers overall.
What I Ordered
For this visit, we ordered jangteo gukbap, pork gukbap, soondae, and gochujang pork ribs.
One interesting thing is that they start you off with a bowl of barley rice mixed with a bit of doenjang.
It felt like a small appetizer before the main dishes.
When mixed with sesame oil, it had a simple but satisfying flavor.
It was a nice touch that helped set the tone for the meal.
Pork Gukbap: As Expected
The pork gukbap was the highlight for me.
It matched the reputation I had heard about.
The broth had a clean and comforting flavor, and the overall balance felt right.
This is the kind of dish that makes sense to order here, especially if it’s your first visit.

Jangteo Gukbap: Not Quite What I Expected
The jangteo gukbap was a bit of a different story.
It wasn’t bad, but it didn’t match what I had in mind when ordering it.
Because of that, it felt like a slightly disappointing choice compared to the pork gukbap.
If I were to come back, I would probably skip this one and stick to the more popular options.

Side Dishes: Decent but Not Standout
The gochujang pork ribs were good, but I couldn’t help comparing them to other places.
Compared to Maht Gaek’s ribs, this one felt slightly less impressive in both flavor and overall impact.
Still, it was enjoyable and worked well as part of the meal.
The soondae was also decent.
Nothing particularly memorable, but it wasn’t disappointing either.

Overall Experience
Overall, Busan Gukbap delivered a solid experience, but it wasn’t perfect across the board.
Some dishes stood out, while others felt average or slightly underwhelming.
That said, the pork gukbap alone is enough of a reason to visit.
This feels like a place where sticking to the right menu choices makes a big difference.
Final Thoughts
Busan Gukbap is a place I would consider visiting again, especially for the pork gukbap.
While not every dish impressed me, the overall experience was still good enough to come back and try different menu items.
If you are craving Korean soup dishes, this is definitely a spot worth trying at least once.
