I recently visited Abe Carrollton for the second time after having a surprisingly good first experience.
During my first visit, the kimchi cheese katsu ended up being the standout menu item for me, so this time, I already knew exactly what I wanted to order before walking in.
Some restaurants lose their impact on a second visit, especially once the first impression wears off.
This visit felt more focused on consistency and whether the food could still deliver the same level of satisfaction.

Abe Carrollton Experience
One of the biggest differences this time was the ordering system.
During my first visit, ordering was done through a kiosk before entering.
This time, however, the process changed completely.
After sitting down, I had to scan a QR code to place the order directly from my phone.
Personally, I found the experience more inconvenient than helpful.
The process required registering payment information and paying immediately through the mobile system before the food even arrived.
Compared to a simple kiosk or in-person ordering system, the flow felt unnecessarily complicated.
Eventually, I managed to place the order, but it definitely stood out as one of the weaker parts of the visit.

What I Ordered at Abe
Kimchi Cheese Katsu
For this visit, I ordered the kimchi cheese katsu soba combo.
The kimchi cheese katsu was still the highlight of the meal.
The outside stayed crispy, while the inside combined melted cheese and kimchi together in a way that made the texture much more satisfying.
The slight acidity from the kimchi worked surprisingly well with the richness of the cheese and fried katsu.
Compared to a regular katsu, it feels much more flavorful and layered.
That combination is still the main reason I would return to Abe Carrollton.

Soba Combo
The soba included with the combo ended up being larger than I expected.
For something considered a side portion, the amount was actually generous enough to make the meal feel very filling overall.
The lighter soba also balanced out the heavier fried katsu surprisingly well.
Because of that, the combo itself felt more complete rather than simply adding an extra side dish.

Food Quality and Taste at Abe
Katsu Texture
While the overall flavor of the kimchi cheese katsu remained satisfying, there was one small issue I noticed during this visit.
Some parts of the breading did not seem to fully stick to the meat evenly.
Because of that, the fried coating occasionally separated more easily than expected while eating.
It wasn’t something that completely ruined the experience, but it was noticeable enough to stand out.
Aside from that detail, the overall texture and flavor still remained enjoyable.

Flavor Balance
The biggest strength of this dish is still the flavor combination itself.
The crispy katsu, melted cheese, and kimchi all work together in a surprisingly balanced way.
The kimchi prevents the dish from feeling too heavy, while the cheese adds richness that makes each bite feel more satisfying.
It’s one of those menu items that feels memorable enough to specifically come back for.
Atmosphere and Service at Abe
Atmosphere
The restaurant itself still felt clean and organized overall.
The atmosphere leans more casual and modern rather than traditional.
Because of the digital ordering system, the experience also feels more technology-focused compared to many other Korean restaurants nearby.
Service
The service itself was relatively smooth once the order was placed.
The food came out at a reasonable pace, and the overall dining flow felt organized.
However, the QR code ordering and payment process definitely reduced some of the convenience of the visit for me personally.
It’s the kind of system some people may enjoy, but others may find less comfortable.

Overall Experience at Abe
This second visit confirmed that the kimchi cheese katsu is still the strongest menu item for me at Abe Carrollton.
Even though the ordering system felt less convenient this time, the food itself still delivered enough flavor to make the visit worthwhile.
The combo portion size, crispy texture, and balance between kimchi and cheese all helped the meal remain satisfying overall.
There were a few smaller flaws compared to the first visit, but not enough to completely change my overall impression of the restaurant.
My Final Verdict on Abe
Abe Carrollton still feels worth revisiting if you are specifically interested in the kimchi cheese katsu.
The combination of crispy katsu, melted cheese, and kimchi continues to stand out compared to more standard katsu dishes.
While the new ordering system felt more inconvenient than before, the food itself was still enjoyable enough to make the visit satisfying.
If you visit Abe Carrollton for the first time, the kimchi cheese katsu combo is still the menu I would recommend starting with.
